How to Nominate: Best Overall Web Design
Between January 1 and January 24, 2010 nominate your favorite design in this category. For the subject, give the name of the Web page you wish to nominate. Then include the URL and a short description of why this site best represents the category. 50 character minimum. Do not hesitate to nominate pages that have already been nominated by others. Multiple nominations increase the chances that your choice will make it into the finalists for voting.
Apple - www.apple.com
- Well since I'm a Mac user, I'm inclined to nominate Apple's web site. But, consider the main page, bold images, menu bar for links to gain access to the rest of their site, and a footer containing links to most corporate info, and user feeds. All together the site is easy on the eyes, and gets you to where you want to go quickly.

- They site may not be the nicest to look at, certainly other e-commerce sites have more sizzle to them. But Newegg is well organized, has a very good checkout system and cart, and includes user reviews and comments, in a way that doesn't seem to cause a lot of self-promoting comments to appear.

- I've been a Progressive customer for years and I use their site regularly to add/remove drivers and vehicles and get new insurance cards (always losing the ones they mail). It has always been a super easy to use site for me. No matter what I am logging on to do I can get straight to it with no time spent trying to figure out where something might be hidden (I can think of a few other companies where I have a accounts that don't make it so easy). You know the biggest annoyance with the progressive.com site is kind of funny -- a popup asking to rate the site's ease of use... I always tell it that the site is perfect EXCEPT for that questionnaire. LOL

Best Overall Web Design
- www.GovBenefits.gov - Citizen focused government site that tells the citizen what the site is for and what they can or can not find on the site. Site is clean and clear, not a lot of advanced over the top features to distract citizen, but uses color to guide and coordinate sections. Gives the citizen the information they are looking for and has the ease of navigation to help. Information is updated on a regular basis and stays fresh with a new image every two-three weeks with updated highlights.
