When you're a Web designer, the sites that you design are your portfolio, obviously. But your Web site is arguably almost as important as your resume when you're trying to land a Web design job. When I was a hiring manager for a Web development team, I wanted to see the Web page that potential applicants had built. In many cases I preferred to see this over the Web sites in their portfolios, as it shows so much more about the designer than the portfolio pieces.
