Top 3 Secure Web Servers

By Jennifer Kyrnin, About.com

Security is a prime concern when choosing a Web server. Enterprise corporations have a lot at stake, and if their Web site is compromised, it can cost a lot of business. These Web servers offer high quality security for high-end Web sites.

1. Zeus Web Server

Available for Unix, Windows, and Macintosh platforms, the Zeus Web server is one of the most secure available. It was recommended by the Gartner group as a server to consider if your site had been hacked by viruses such as SirCam. It can be a lot more expensive than Apache, but for the price, you get a lot of service and functionality.

2. Apache

Apache is available for Unix, Windows, and Macintosh operating systems. It is an open-source server that has developers working on it constantly to improve its performance and security. If a security breach is found, it is often patched within hours, so if you stay on top of the warnings and advisories, your server should be fairly secure.

3. Sun Java System Web Server 6.1

Formerly the Sun ONE Web server, the Sun Java System Web server provides a powerful and scalable business Web server solution.
