How Can I Redesign a Framed Web Site?

By Jennifer Kyrnin, About.com

Question: How Can I Redesign a Framed Web Site?

Answer:

And Keep Everything Essentially the Same

I'm beginning to think that the words redesign and easy should never be used in the same sentence.

That said, it is definitely possible to redesign a framed site to "keep it essentially the same" but you need to determine what you want to keep the same.

For example:

  1. If you're using frames because you want an easy way to include things like the same navigation on all your pages without having to update it in multiple locations, then you should look into includes or templating systems to maintain your navigation.
  2. If you're talking about the way the framed pages look, then you can fake the framed look with CSS.
