When you’re creating a web page, it's easy to forget how your page will look to people using different resolutions. But if you know how to change the resolution, you can switch back and forth. This quick tutorial will teach you how to switch resolutions on your Macintosh computer quickly and easily.
Difficulty: Average
Time Required: 3 minutes
Here's How:
- Minimize or close all currently open windows.
- Go to the Apple menu (the apple icon on the left side of the tool bar) and select “System Preferences...”
- Click on “Displays”
- In the Display tab, select the resolution you would like to test.
- Test your web pages in the new resolution.
- When you’re done, go back to the “Displays” window and change back to your preferred resolution.
Tips:
- While some would say that having the highest resolution you can comfortably read is the best, this is not true.Your monitor has an optimum or “native” resolution where it performs best. You should find out what that is and set your monitor to that resolution.
- When you change the resolution, your Mac will change the size of your windows to fit, and they may be smaller when you switch back. This is why it's best to close them before you change resolutions.
